Alex J. DeYonker joined Spartan Stores in October 2006 from Warner Norcross & Judd LLP, a 180 lawyer firm, where he had served for four years as Managing Partner and had been a partner since 1988. Alex has served as General Counsel to Spartan Stores since 1995 and as the Companys Secretary since 2000. He was also a Company board member from 1999-2003. His legal experience includes corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, securities offerings, SEC reporting and a general corporate practice. Alex has been listed for over 10 years in “The Best Lawyers in America” and is a member of the American Bar Association, the State Bar of Michigan (former Chairperson of the Business Law Section) and the Grand Rapids Bar Association. He graduated cum laude with a J.D. from Wayne State University Law School and holds a B.S. in Psychology with high honors from Michigan State University.
